Software/Product Support Engineer, Java, Central London, £28-38,000 + great benefits.
Our client seeks a software support professional with experience of supporting, troubleshooting and debugging Java and/or C++ applications. This is NOT a development role, and so we are NOT looking for developers.
The successful individual must be Java literate and have good support experience with Java and OO technologies. All applicants must be willing to work in an application/product support environment. Your main purpose will be to help debug and solve complex problems that arise during the implementation of complex solutions by external and internal customers using our client£s products.
Your role will involve: providing high level phone, e-mail and Webex consultation to debug customer problems, solving technically complex problems by analyzing, troubleshooting, simulating and debugging product related problems, becoming a product expert and documenting problems accurately.
Essential is the following:
- Java literacy and Java Support experience.
- Experience supporting OO applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Relevant Degree
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Some experience with Oracle or MS SQL Server.
- Willingness to work in a product/application support role.
Desirable but not essential is any one from:
- J2EE, JMS
- Experience of Web Technologies, Web Servers (i.e. XML, XPATH).
- Experience of Networking (i.e. TCP/IP).
